This 4-hour workshop (ideally for an audience of up to 50 participants) helps bridge the gap between having a knowledge of HIV and AIDS and how it is contracted to making the necessary behavioural changes needed to prevent transmission or contracting HIV/AIDS.

The workshop inspires participants to make the necessary sexual behaviour changes and encourages safe sexual practices as a lifestyle choice by providing a thorough and correct knowledge of the facts of HIV/AIDS, using the book as a guide during the programme.

All our facilitators, of which the author, Marina is one, have training and/or educational backgrounds. The facilitators use Marina’s book, HIV & AIDS, to demystify and open discussions about cultural issues, behavior change, HCT and basic HIV/AIDS knowledge and facts in an open, participative, spontaneous and interactive manner. The programme encourages a sense of empowerment and ownership regarding HIV and AIDS issues. By using the book as a basis for the workshop and having participants go through the content in detail with our trainers, the publication becomes a manual which they can refer to in future to discuss and share correct informatoin with colleagues, friends and family.

If desired, we can also provide SETA accreditation which will include the supplying of answer sheets, assessment moderation, certification and uploading of the HIV Unit Standard 116999 – Apply accurate information about HIV/AIDS to everyday life, Level 1 – 2 Credits at an additional cost. This would then mean that you would be able to claim back 80% in skills development levies and score points towards social responsibility.

Workshop Outcome: We want participants to leave the programme confidently, able to share this knowledge with their partners, children and others in their community. By applying and sharing the contents of this programme as well as using the book as a resource guide, the participants will be able to empower themselves, their partners and their children to accept and follow safe sexual practices.

The ultimate goal is to create a change in behavior. It is this changed behavior, inspired by accurate information, that will lead to a radical reduction in the spread of HIV and AIDS.

“Marina’s highly professionsal and skilled facilitation of the self-awareness sessions during the Bridges of Hope training workshop enabled participants to explore issues arising from their past and resolve them in a way which was clearly empowering both in their personal lives and relationships, and also for their training and education role as Wellness Champions.”
